made in the shade...

As promised...

here are a few pictures from the shade garden.

Summer is here and shade is a hot commodity for sure...

...so I am loving every single moment in this tranquil little corner of the garden.

The plants seem to be enjoying a break from the mid-day sun too.

The rice paper lanterns tucked into the hanging peace lilies provide yet another layer of protection from the intense sun.

So often we hear about bringing the outdoors in but as I look at these pictures I realize that I have brought my indoors out. It is so wonderful to have this very special place in the garden. All the things that bring me joy converge so effortlessly here...

from seashells and sand pails to ironstone and linens...

from architectural salvage and vintage planters to old mirrors and parasols...

and they are all woven together with hardy plants and young seedlings to create this ever so special outdoor living space.
